The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013)
She says: This appropriately named film really is incredible - incredibly funny, incredibly touching, and incredibly magical. Sorry for the cheese factor - but there's a lot of cheesiness to this movie, and every bit of it is a pure delight.
Steve Carell stars as a washed-up Vegas magician who has lost his drive, his best friend, and his job. His character starts out a jaded, obnoxious, self-centered drone and gradually morphs into an actual human being, aided by a renewed bond with his best friend, played by the ugly but lovable Steve Buscemi, and their former assistant Jane, played by the gorgeous Olivia Wilde ("Tron"). The ending made me stand up and cheer, and the film had me in stitches the entire time. A lot of comedy, a little romance, and an absolutely hysterical role played flawlessly by the always-impeccable Jim Carrey as a competing magician - "Burt Wonderstone" has everything, including my vote of two thumbs up and a rating of 95%.
He says: 95%?! Which actor were YOU attracted to?
Keeping it simple, this comedy movie was truly a comedy. I feel this is the best performance of Steve Carell's career; this movie was so refreshing and quirky. As the norm for Jim Carrey, he is just gut-aching-hilarious. I think this film has humor that can be appreciated over and again. As far as Steve Buscemi goes, his sex-offender looks are absolutely creepy, but I couldn't think of a better supporting actor for this movie.
All three actors had great chemistry together; in summary, I give it two thumbs up, with an 89.5% rating.
