He Said, She Said (1991)

He Said, She Said (1991)

She says: Kevin Bacon plays an arrogant, womanizing (but likable) journalist who falls for his beautiful and intelligent co-worker. The story of their bewildering and argumentative romance is told from both his and her viewpoints, making heavy use of flashbacks. Generally I'm not a huge fan of excessive flashback-storytelling, but in this film, it works - it's never confusing. The transitions are clear and don't detract from the story. Elizabeth Perkins is fiery but vulnerable as the leading lady, and Sharon Stone somehow manages to not villainize her role as Bacon's ex-lover.
Overall: two thumbs up.

He says: This is our first review, Kalavista, and already you're talking over all the guys' heads! All these over-intellectualizing sentences ... I just want to keep it to the point, plain and simple, and not confusing for the men. From a guy's point of view, yes, the movie is a chick flick; however, it's quick, witty, the dialogue keeps you interested - basically, you could say this is a movie where they're trying to do the "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" controversy. As a chick flick, it does keep a good pace, which a man needs to enjoy a romantic comedy; and therefore, I give it two thumbs up, even though it slowed a little at the last twenty minutes or so to create that tear-jerker moment. To keep it real for the guys, I'll give this an 81.5% because it's above average for a chick flick, which you would appreciate.
